Hi, I’m Aaron Bolton
Where it all began…
Pizza anyone?
Who could resist giving away free pizzas in Edinburgh’s West End. This is where I began working with the Forth 1 Street Team, engaging with listeners and the wider public, showcasing our clients @Pizza’s new store. We secured further on air and branded content bookings as a result of our efforts.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
2018’s Cash for Kids Superhero Day was my opportunity to showcase the Tay FM Breakfast & Home Run team’s fundraising efforts, following their journey across Tayside and Fife, producing social media content while our presenters were live on Tay FM from across the region throughout the day fundraising with Cash for Kids.
Social media was a key part of bringing the story alive, with calls to action throughout the day to donate whilst increasing overall reach by tagging and engaging with local businesses across social channels.
Scotland’s biggest street party
Where else would you want to celebrate the new year. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is one of the most iconic events for New Years Eve, Forth 1 was a media partner - I was responsible for capturing content throughout the night for socials back in 2018. We partnered with Edinburgh’s Hogmanay and Underbelly to ensure consistent messaging while creating relevant content for the Forth 1 audience. The content gave a great sense of what was happening in the capital.
f-f-f-frozen Boogie in the Morning 🥶
In 2024, as part of Boogie, Arlene & Marty’s fundraising efforts ahead of the Forth 100 running the Edinburgh Marathon, an anonymous donor will give £10,000 to Cash for Kids if the Boogie in the Morning team can last in an ice bath.
After receiving a brief, I created a storyboard, filmed, edited and scheduled the content across Forth 1’s socials. The content achieved over 140,000 viewers on Facebook and 283,000 impressions on Instagram in the run up to Boogie & the Forth 100 running the Edinburgh Marathon.
10 questions in 60 seconds…
The £2k minute and £5k minute features every morning on Boogie in the Morning and Bowie at Breakfast, giving listeners the chance to win cash if they can answer all 10 questions correctly in 60 seconds. In 2019, I brought the feature onto Forth 1 and Clyde 1’s Instagram to encourage more people to listen and sign up to the game.
The content sat on Instagram socials, with Boogie and Arlene or Cassi guiding listeners through the questions and encouraged people to sign up from the link on the stories. We analysed engagement in the stories, and saw an uptake in the number of people registering for the feature each time we brought the £2k/£5k minute onto socials.
🏆 Award-winning content 👀
The Forth Awards is one of my favourite events every year. Since 2019, I have joined the team to share key moments from the awards on Forth 1’s social platforms. I give followers a sense of the day, with behind the scenes access presented by Boogie & Arlene, as well as the top performances, and celebrating the award winnings.
In the live environment, I immerse myself in the show, do quick edits, then publish content onto stories and reels to help share the story of the event for followers online.
🤘🏽 Rewind Festival Scotland
I joined the Greatest Hits Scotland team to Rewind Scotland in 2022, working under the direction of the Digital Editor, capturing different presenter-led pieces of content across the weekend. I worked closely with the Digital Editor to capture content, which was edited by the team, and then I distributed the content.
We posted across the Greatest Hits network in Scotland’s socials - and brought relatable, funny and engaging moments from the festival, including Arlene’s campervan (don’t ask her what happened later that day…).
Forth on the Fringe
Similar to the Forth Awards, I’m proud to be trusted by the Events Manager each year to come and share the live events of Forth 1’s Forth on the Fringe since 2019. This is the biggest show of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival each year. My role is to help share key moments and behind-the-scenes action with our followers.
A key focus for content on the Friday night and Saturday matinee shows are to forward sell to the Saturday night. I collaborate with the full team to confidently share the best content from each show, whilst delivering clear call to actions.
Run Boogie Run 🏃
Whilst Boogie and the Forth 100 were out running the Edinburgh Marathon 2024 for Cash For Kids, I worked as part of the production team on site, capturing the day as the runners left Edinburgh city centre, through to the finish line in Musselburgh.
As a team, we captured and published key moments from throughout the Marathon. Whilst Arlene and Marty were live on Forth 1, I was sharing the experience with our listeners across our social media channels. As donations were flooding in we shared the challenges, triumphs and incredible stories of everyone who was running. My content alone brought over 560,000 impressions to Forth 1’s Instagram reels, contributing to the overall content storyboard of the fundraising efforts by Boogie in the Morning.
Happy Birthday Clyde 1 🎧
Clyde 1 Live brought together Scotland’s biggest artists, performing LIVE at Glasg'ow’s OVO Hydro in front of thousands of Clyde 1 listeners. One of Scotland’s biggest birthday parties, Clyde 1, celebrated 50 years of broadcasting in 2024.
This was a brilliant production to be part of. I captured and published content across Clyde 1’s social media, including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. For Clyde 1’s Instagram reels, I brought in over 320,000 impressions alone. I communicated effectively between different teams, I was organised and prioritised competing demands on my time.
Cash Register
From the start of Cash Register, I worked with the enterprise team and Digital Editor to create and edit content to share across the Hits Radio Network Scotland platforms. Tasks included scheduling content or visiting Forth 1 winners to interview them for the Digital Editor to create branded reels.
